2009 INNAGURAL CACHE VALLEY

CELTIC FESTIVAL  & HIGHLAND GAMES

 AUGUST 29TH, 2009

American West Heritage Center, Wellsville, UT

CLANS, PIPE BANDS, ATHLETES, VENDORS! Lovers of Scotland!

COME, BE PART OF A NEW UTAH TRADITION!

The Utah Scottish Association is proud to announce the beginning of a festival in the area where the Scots first entered Utah, Cache Valley!

The American West Heritage Center & the Utah Scottish Association

will host the 1st Annual Cache Celtic Festival & Highland Games August

29 from 9AM to 8PM. Guests will experience a full range of Celtic

culture and traditions through activities which include traditional

music, Scottish Highland dancing, Irish step dancing, Highland

athletics and ethnic foods.

“Celebrating Celtic culture fits well with the deep Scottish and

Welsh roots of the northern Utah region, and is especially appropriate

this year with the sesquicentennials of many area communities”, said

Bob Gallimore, Utah Scottish Association Board member.

About 20 food & merchandise vendors together with Scottish &

Irish clans will be at the festival. Solo competitions in bag piping &

drumming will bring many members of several pipe bands as well. Local

musicians will perform as will the Inishfre Irish step dancers.

Tickets are $7 for adults and $3 for children. Those younger than 4

are free.

Demonstrations of Scottish Highland dancing will feature dancers

who have successfully competed at regional, national, and

international events, and include Kelsey Crane, Utah’s own 4 times

U.S. National Champion. Highland athletes will test their mettle in

throwing events, such as the caber toss, stone putt, sheaf toss, and

hammer throw.

So put on some tartan and come join in a “wee Celtic fling”!
