Northwest Region Highland Dance Championship
Date is May 17th 2008
Location is Masonic Temple, 650 East South Temple,
Salt Lake City.
Start Time is 9.00am
This is the qualifying event for the United
States Championship. There are six regions in the united States and each
Region holds their event in April of May. The Regional Championship consists of
premier level dancers that have worked through the levels to reach premier and
now are eligible to dance in championships.
The Northwest Region consists of seven States,
Utah, Idaho, Wyoming, Oregon, Washington, Montana and Alaska.
The Championship consists of five age groups which
are :
11 and under
13 and under
15 and under
17 and under
18 and over
This event is judged by thee judges from outside
our Region.
Cathy Hynd from California
Christie Freestone from Michigan
Cheryl Rafter from Canada.
The top three in each of these age groups will
earn a place in the United States Championship on July 19th which is
being hosted by the Southwest Region and held in Colorado. This equates to 15
dancers from each of the 6 regions for a total of 90 dancers from across the
U.S.A. that make it through to the US Championship.
